This is one the first photographs I ever captured. Sadly, the negatives are lost, so I can’t be sure of the exact sequence of images. That fine collie is Taffy, my childhood dog. The image is from a 110 Kodak Instamatic. Date on the photo is May 1973.
I did most of my photography for me, without the motivation of sharing with others. The challenge of capturing “just the right” image. The magic of wondering what you captured, as opposed to the instant gratification of today’s technology.
I hand developed black and white film and photos while a photographer for the Herald (student) Newspaper and as a staff photographer at Western Michigan University.
I am amazed that we had to capture the action or assignments of a football game with two rolls of film – 72 images in total. Fast forward to fatherhood, and I once shot over 1,500 frames during a 90 minute soccer match one of my sons was playing in. To be fair, it was a playoff match. ;)
Most of the images are simple opportunistic “snapshots”. Very little planning or editing as true skillful photographers will do. I hope you enjoy. Feel free to download and enjoy. BTW, I maintain the copyright even with free access. If you wish to use any image for commercial purposes, please contact me.
